Technical Body - Green Panels Case study in Yokohama Japan

Suzuki San of Technical Body contacted us about an S31 he is currently restoring and he was interested in a few pieces from our restoration parts catalog.

He operates this body shop, tucked in the hills of Asahi-ku, Yokohama, along with his son Carrera.

The car he is restoring had extensive rust on the right rear quarter panel due to fuel corroding the body around the fuel door. The rear hatch slam panel had rust and lower valance panel was also going to be replaced.

Suzuki san was one of the first to request the Japanese market styled (no side marker) rear quarter panel and we were happy to arrange this. The hole not being there means less work for him to complete and less filler on the car.

The car started life as a late S31 but as often is the case in Japan, the rear tail lights have been changed to the early S30 type. The rear lower valance for the S31s have large holes that are not very aesthetically pleasing so a KF Vintage JDM lower valance was provided to complete the early look on the rear end.

The hatch slam panel is a common rust area due to being an area where water gathers after rain and the rear hatch slam is perfectly suited for this job!

The rear quarter panel from KF Vintage JDM is a useful part for cars with extensive rear fender well rust or those who want to get rid of overfenders. This particular car only received a right side rear quarter panel.

Due to the car having aftermarket doors installed, there is still a fair amount of work required to get the panels to all line up just right.

Suzuki san was very thorough with his feedback on the parts and where he thinks things can be improved. We value the input from those who actually use our products and seek to make changes where possible.

We look forward to connecting with other shops and seeing our panels fitted to more S30 and 240Z Fairlady Zs. We are happy that people are using the product to keep more of these special cars on the road.
